Our first demo to show hidden infrastructure was the Aquaductus overflow alarm. When a well becomes overfilled in winter and an alarm comes from a snow-covered well, it is not easy to find. However, the position is always documented, so you can then show where the well is through AR.
Our partner GCI was commissioned to visualize the infrastructure in the ”new” Kiruna. The project, with the help of our partner Sokigo, developed a GPS solution that gave the Microsoft Hololens an orientation capability with 35 cm resolution outdoors, so you could walk around and see pipes under the street.
We also usually include an appreciated demo when we present the project, where you can see fake pipelines in the basement of the house you are in.
The collaboration between CGI and Sokigo has continued. Sokigo delivers solutions where municipalities document their V/A systems. Together with CGI, they have developed a solution where you can read sections of the V/A systems into Microsoft Hololens and thus be able to walk around and look at the pipes in AR.
