This week, we had workshops with the 9th-graders at Floraskolan in collaboration with Exploratoriet.
The Exploratorium conducts such collaborations with various industries in order to increase technological interests by presenting solutions and problems from reality. We had a first workshop October 10th when we presented the project and the possibilities with our IoT platform.
The students were then also given the task of developing ideas for useful smart services in groups. They started working already during the first workshop, and then they had until the next day to complete their work before the next workshop, whre all the groups presented their ideas. Everyone had done a good job and presented good ideas. Here is a selection:
- Temperature controlled tail heater (and radiator), for car, scooter, moped, bus shelters, buses, replacement bench…
- Angle sensor that measures the body’s angles and pressure sensor against the hill, (for alpine training).
- Parking solution, helps navigate to free parking space.
- Sound sensors on bridges, in tunnels, capture sounds, reduce abuse. In case of abuse, a speaker claims to be filming.
- Temperature sensors in roads, as well as heat that melts snow and ice. Avoid plowing, avoid studs.
- Sensors at traffic lights, roads… see traffic jams. The app provides a time forecast to the destination.
- AR solution, see status of car, scooter, moped… Notifies what is faulty.
- Ice thickness sensor measures forward, warns if risk.
- Sensor on barbell. Captures the bar if you lose your grip. No need to have someone behind.
- Sensors on signs, traffic lights… Get navigation, best route.
- Sensor for heart rate, blood pressure… If ill alert relative, alternatively 112.
- Feed pets in case of absence, measure the amount of food and water left.
