In the SSiO project and its predecessor SenseSmartRegion, we have built an open IoT platform where it is easy to connect sensors or other IoT devices and establish communication with them.
We have also built a LoRa network in Skellefteå with an outpost in Lycksele.
LoRa is a wireless communication standard that is excellent for communicating with IoT devices. It can handle long distances and is low-power and slow, i.e. it is perfect when you want to deploy a sensor that sends small amounts of data somewhere where you don’t have access to the power grid and don’t want to have to change batteries all the time.
We now have five months left of the project period and are starting to publish the pilot services that we and others have used and tested on the platform since it began to be built.
